Antoine de Saint-Exupéry grew up in Lyon, France, dreaming of becoming a pilot from a young age. He joined the French military to train as a pilot before becoming a mail pilot, using his adventures as inspiration for his writing.
In 1935, he crashed in the desert during a flight from Paris to Saigon. With little food or water, he became seriously ill but was rescued by a passerby after four days. This experience later influenced much of his writing.
During World War II, he moved to the United States and supported France’s fight against Nazism. While there, he wrote The Little Prince, a timeless story of love and loss that went on to become one of the best-selling children’s books of all time.
